Forming A New Vanpool

All you need is yourself and a minimum of 5 other committed commuters to form a new vanpool! 

Tips to finding fellow vanpoolers:

• Email co-workers or post notices at work.
• Talk to co-workers about forming a vanpool.
• Post notices in nearby buildings and have those interested contact you.
• Contact the VanGo™ Program Manager and find out if there are people near your work or home who are on a vanpool waiting list.

Once you have the five people identified:

• Set up a brief planning meeting to decide on a time and place to meet.
• Choose your drivers and coordinator (it’s easier than it sounds).
• Complete your signup forms (both online and printable forms are available).
• Sit back and enjoy the savings – and the ride!

Joining a vanpool

There are nearly 75 established VanGo™ routes in the North Front Range – carrying employees between Ft. Collins, Greeley, Longmont, Boulder and locations throughout Denver. While vanpoolers often become long-time members, there are times that circumstances change for riders and a seat becomes available. Look for open seats on any of the current vanpool routes listed in this section. You can email the VanGo™ Program directly if you find a vanpool that would work for you!

Tips for a Successful Vanpool

Vanpools that have lasted successfully over time share the following characteristics.

Drivers and back up drivers are:

• Responsible
• Organized
• Dependable

Routes and schedules are established and include:

• Between 1 and 4 safe pickup and drop-off locations
• Established pickup and drop-off times
• Rules for how long the van will wait at pickup locations

Vanpool policies of non-smoking and mandatory seatbelt use are enforced. Plus group vanpool guidelines are established and enforced, such as:

• Eating and drinking restrictions
• Radio and music use
• Agreement regarding stopping to pick up coffee or food items
